Interns (2x) on Sustainable Agri-Food Systems

between February and June/July 2025 (Global Office in The Hague, The Netherlands)

Are you interested in learning from projects related to food systems, agricultural value chains or inclusive finance? Are you interested in making a difference in the lives of people living in fragile and conflict-affected areas? Are you interested in ensuring everyone can have access to food and income?

Then perhaps this internship is something for you!

At Cordaid, we aim to accompany and guide our interns to contribute to the work of the team but also to provide them with the opportunity to follow their own specific interests, and to learn and develop themselves in their own chosen subjects.  It is strongly encouraged in this function to have a proactive nature, take initiative and develop your own learning plan.

Main activities of the two internships:

  • Support the mapping of relevant key projects and identify their challenges and associated solutions in the field of Sustainable Agri-Food Systems (related to local economic development and entrepreneurship, agricultural value chains, environmental sustainability, access to finance, digital tools, etc.).
  • The two internships will work on analysing systemic change related to the key projects, possibly one with a climate change focus and another one looking into conflict and fragility settings.
  • Collect internal lessons learned from these projects and support the development of knowledge products based on these reflections and learnings.
  • Support the development of communication products (project factsheets, capacity statements, reports, etc.)
  • Support the development of an internal webinar on the reflections and lessons learned.
  • Support the internal Community of Practice on Sustainable Agri-Food Systems.

Criteria for applicants:

  • This position is open for students currently enrolled in a relevant degree in the field of food systems, international development studies, development economics, sustainability, etc.
  • Students who have knowledge about food systems.
  • Experience with systems strengthening approaches is appreciated.
  • Full proficiency of the English language is required.
  • Proficiency in French language is recommended.
  • Good writing, drafting and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse team.
  • Because of communication and collaboration with country offices worldwide, enthusiasm about working internationally is required.
  • A proactive, open and curious attitude.
  • Being able to work independently and solution oriented.
  • Legally eligible to do an internship in the Netherlands.

 What we offer

  • The internship will be up to max 6 months, on a 32-hour workweek basis (4 days/week). The compensation will be up to € 500, - based on a full-time contract (36-hour).
