Expert Private Sector Development

What you do

The Expert Private Sector Development (PSD) will primarily contribute to supporting the acceleration of existing and scalable micro, small and medium enterprises (XSMEs) in fragile settings. You facilitate access to the necessary inputs to support their sustainability and  support interventions aimed at improving the entrepreneurial ecosystem and employability of youth. Projects under the programme are currently being implemented in Ethiopia, Sierra Leone and Afghanistan, with roll out foreseen in 2018 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan and Myanmar.

Furthermore you will be responsible, together with the PSD colleagues from our country offices and other PSD experts in the Resilience unit and within Cordaid Investments, for:

·       partnership building;

·       acquisition of funds of institutional donors and draft project proposals;

·       implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects;

·       internal knowledge management and learning;

·       developing training programs and courses for specific fields of expertise based on market demand;

·       providing technical advice to the Country Offices in the implementation of PSD projects.

In addition to the programme tasks, you are expected to formulate research objectives matching current/new programmes and profiling the Resilience Unit. You will be supportive of the team’s participation in international conferences and workshops aiming to share Cordaid’s expertise in PSD with the wider PSD community and foster our innovation.

Who you are

·       You hold a Masters degree in economics, finances or business administration

·       You have knowledge and experience of business development services for micro, medium and small enterprises in Africa and/or Asia

·       You have extensive experience with employment and support to micro, small and medium sized businesses in fragile contexts preferably in Africa and Asia

·       You have knowledge of value chain dynamics

·       You have project management skills, including knowledge of effective and result oriented M&E.

·       You have good working knowledge of French and English

·       You have experience in developing solutions and business cases and implementing those solutions and business cases

·       You have experience in delivering trainings and ToTs in different cultural settings

·       Willingness to travel extensively (at least 30% of work time) to implementation countries

What we offer

·       support for your personal and professional development;

·       good employment conditions;

·       a maximum gross monthly salary up to  € 4857,- based on a 36-hour working week and depending on relevant years of experience;

·       a holiday allowance of 8% and an end of year allowance of 8,3%;

·       a fulltime position (36 hours) initially for one year, with the possibility for extension.
