The Dutch Relief Alliance (DRA) (www.dutchrelief.org) is a coalition of 16 Dutch humanitarian organisations in partnership with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The alliance's goal is to enhance the effectiveness, timeliness, reach and quality of the Dutch humanitarian aid efforts. The DRA responds to humanitarian crises by designing Joint Responses drawn up and implemented by the members best placed to respond to a crisis. The members are CARE Nederland, Cordaid, Dorcas, ICCO/Kerk in Actie, Oxfam Novib, Plan International Nederland, Red een Kind, SOS Kinderdorpen, Save the Children, Stichting Vluchteling, Terre des Hommes, Tear, Warchild, War Trauma Foundation, World Vision and ZOA. The DRA Committee oversees on a day-to-day basis the activities of the alliance and liaises with MoFA on behalf of the members, it comprises of a Chair, Vice Chair and Crisis Coordinator

DRA and Cordaid are looking for a

Intern Humanitarian Aid - Dutch Relief Alliance

 

What you do

During this internship you will on a daily basis be close to the decision-making bodies in an alliance of 16 Dutch humanitarian actors. You will assist the incoming Chair of the Dutch Relief Alliance (Cordaid) in her daily responsibilities and tasks as well as other members of the DRA Committee in collaboration with the DRA Secretary. You will be involved in supporting DRA Committee meetings, DRA Partner meetings and Working Group meetings. Your assistance will be sought in the area coordination and communication, drafting and editing (policy)documents and meeting notes, organising meetings and events, as well as support in other areas depending on your knowledge and experience.

Who you are

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and flexible colleague.

  • You are passionate about humanitarian aid;
  • You are enrolled in a relevant bachelor or masters study;
  • You have an excellent command of English, both oral and written; knowledge of Dutch is an advantage;
  • You have the ability to work independently and pro-actively, while also being a good team player;

What we offer

We offer an exciting position within a dynamic team. You will have the possibility to gain work experience and deepen your understanding about humanitarian NGOs in general and Cordaid in particular.

  • Internship compensation of €350.- per month in case of a 36 hour workweek.
  • Start date 1 January 2019;
  • 32-36 hours a week;
  • Duration: 5 to 6 months;
  • Location The Hague, with (compensated) travel to DRA partners in other parts of the Netherlands.
