Global Health Lobby & Advocacy Officer

The Global Health Lobby & Advocacy Officer (L&A officer), will work across specific global health priorities, including health systems strengthening (HSS) and sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR), to help generate awareness, resources, partnership and policy changes. The L&A officer will be part of ongoing project teams.

What you do

  • Developing and coordinating the execution of advocacy strategies.
  • Directly advocating with sector leaders, influencers, media and government officials in order to achieve advocacy outcomes.
  • Developing the capacity of our local partners in advocacy for strengthening and sexual reproductive health and rights.
  • Developing policy briefs, talking points, advocacy briefings and position papers reflecting Cordaid’s mission and values for policy change on the global health priorities.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policy, and advocacy strategies in partnership with the program teams to generate the attention to their issues, resources, and policy changes necessary to best achieve their goals.
  • Coordinating, coaching and quality control of L&A as part of project implementation
  • Creates, orchestrates and participates in advocacy and policy activities including convenings, campaigns, external partner management and participation in policy and advocacy networks.
  • Prepares and synthesizes existing literature for strategy development and for Management needs. Provides written analysis of key topics for participation in events and meetings with policymakers and partners.

Who you are

You are a L&A officer with deep understanding and experience in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights and Health Systems Strengthening issues, with advocacy capacity, who likes working with CSOs, government and youth organizations.

  • Expertise and experience in the execution of SRHR and HSS strategies, initiatives and programs.
  • A recognised authority in global health advocacy with a depth of experience and deep roots in the field and experience in developing and executing policy and advocacy strategies.
  • Experience in health advocacy in The Netherlands and in developing countries is essential.
  • Experience developing, managing and implementing projects, including partnering with local partners on the definition of goals and deliverables and monitoring and evaluation of results.
  • Strong analytical, writing and verbal skills for communicating with a diverse audience, including internally and external high-level stakeholders.
  • Ability to use L&A skills to increase awareness of development issues and build political/financial support for development goals
  • Fluent in English, French and Dutch
  • Ability to travel frequently and to fragile settings.

What we offer

  • a maximum gross monthly salary up to € 4857,- based on a 36-hour working week and depending on years of relevant experience;
  • a holiday allowance of 8% and an end of year allowance of 8.3%;
  • a fulltime position (36 hours) initially for one year, with the possibility for extension.
