The Dutch Relief Alliance (DRA) ( is a coalition of 16 Dutch humanitarian organisations in partnership with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The alliance's goal is to enhance the effectiveness, timeliness, reach and quality of the Dutch humanitarian aid efforts. The DRA responds to humanitarian crises by designing Joint Responses drawn up and implemented by the members best placed to respond to a crisis. The members are CARE Nederland, Cordaid, Dorcas, ICCO/Kerk in Actie, Oxfam Novib, Plan International Nederland, Red een Kind, SOS Kinderdorpen, Save the Children, Stichting Vluchteling, Terre des Hommes, Tear, Warchild, War Trauma Foundation, World Vision and ZOA. The DRA Committee oversees on a day-to-day basis the activities of the alliance and liaises with MoFA on behalf of the members, it comprises of a Chair, Vice Chair and Crisis Coordinator

What you do

·       You are responsible for ensuring managerial, communicative and administrative order in the functioning of the DRA Committee (DRAC)/Board of Directors of the Stichting Beheer Subsidiegelden DRA. You are present at various meetings with the Board, the DRAC, MFA and Working Groups of which you take the minutes (In English). You regulate information flows, and collate large quantities of information into cohesive reports, you manage the agenda of the Committee/Board and create order in the decision-making.

·       You manage correspondence and various documents to internal and external relations in Dutch and English based on consultation with the persons responsible. You keep correspondence and other information and records up-to-date, complete and accessible.

·       You advise on decision-making quality and see to an efficient and effective communication between Committee/Board and internal - external relations including signalling bottlenecks and offering suggestions for improvements.

·       You organize yearly elections for the Committee and Working Groups.

·       You organize and plan for the main DRA meetings (face to face, via Skype or teleconference), workshops and working groups and keep deadlines in mind relating to these meetings.

·       You collate articles and photos to make an internal newsletter.

·       You support any event that DRA is organizing e.g. attendance at a trade fair (e.g. AidEx in 2018).

·       You maintain the DRA One Drive and give access to partners and trouble shoot when access is not achieved.

·       You create an appropriate and welcoming climate for the reception of visitors.


Who you are

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and flexible colleague.

·       You have knowledge of management support on bachelor’s level;

·       You have an excellent command of Dutch and English, both oral and written;

·       You enjoy working with people of different nationalities and backgrounds;

·       You have excellent writing skills (minutes, clear formulations of decisions, reports, letters and memos);

·       You have strong writing skills for advising about decision-making quality and representation;

·       You are a skilled communicator and know how to organise management information;

·       You feel comfortable dealing with CEO’s, and staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; 

·       You are motivated by the fact that your work is helping those in desperate need;

·       You are willing to work outside office hours if required by the nature of our work (humanitarian aid)


What we offer

We offer an exciting position within a dynamic team and larger alliance of NGOs.

·       Good employment conditions;

·       a maximum gross monthly salary up to 2564,- based on a 36-hour working week and depending on years of relevant experience;

·       Start date 1 January 2019;

·       32-36 hours a week;

·       Duration: 1 year;

·       Location The Hague, with (compensated) travel to DRA partners in other parts of the Netherlands.
