Cordaid is looking for a 

Corporate Press and Communication Officer 

(32-36 hours, based in The Hague) 

 

The Corporate Press and Communication Officer is responsible for maintaining Cordaid’s relations with the Dutch and international media. This role is crucial to the positioning of Cordaid in relevant national and international forums, both offline and online. The Corporate Press and Communication Officer is part of the Positioning & Communication unit of Cordaid, located at the global office in The Hague, and working with a corporate mandate. The unit encompasses a diverse and passionate team, and its colleagues make it a stimulating work environment.  


What you do  

  • You write and issue clear, concise and effective press releases and other informative and promotional materials to relevant media to successfully position Cordaid.  
  • You maintain good contact with the media, engage with them (proactively and reactively), and act as a spokesperson for Cordaid to journalists.  
  • You systematically monitor Cordaid’s media coverage and visibility of the organisation by creating and circulating press reviews. 
  • You develop a Cordaid media strategy to enhance our strategic position and in view of our accountability to Dutch and international stakeholders and society at large.  
  • You create a broad range of informative, convincing and appealing deliverables, varying from positioning papers, speeches, presentations, social media messages, to campaigning materials. 
  • You contribute to internal communication processes and projects if required.  
  • You collaborate closely with colleagues from the Positioning & Communication team, and you engage and provide strategic advice to, for instance, the Board of Directors, marketing colleagues, our Humanitarian Assistance team, and our colleagues in the country offices.  

 

Who you are 

  • You love public affairs, and you closely follow the development and humanitarian sector, notably in relation to the countries in which Cordaid works. 
  • You are well-connected to the Dutch and international press and have an excellent network. 
  • You have in-depth knowledge of (ethical) communication and/or journalism and you have a quick pen yourself.  
  • You are savvy with different communication channels, including social media.  
  • You are creative and have a critical eye for positioning, and with that you can tie the knots between advocacy, activating communication, and campaigning.  
  • You have a relevant degree on an academic/bachelor level. 
  • You have at least three years' experience in a similar position. 
  • You have excellent language skills in Dutch, English, and preferably also French. 
  • You are a team player pur sang.  
  • You can work under stress.  
  • You are willing and able to make international travels.

  • A gross monthly salary of € 3493,- up to € 5230,- based on a 36-hour week (excluding 8% vacation allowance and 8.3% end of year allowance), depending on years of relevant experience. 
  • A position for one year with the possibility of extension, starting as soon as possible.
