Cordaid is looking for a

Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Officer

(36 hours, based in The Hague)

Cordaid is seeking a dedicated and experienced GRC Officer to join our Quality Management team. The GRC Officer will play a pivotal role in guiding and advising our Global and Country Office Management and staff on corporate legal and compliance matters. As the first point of contact, you will contribute to internal controls, risk mitigation, and compliance initiatives, ensuring Cordaid's adherence to regulations and the protection of our mission.

What you do

The Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Officer

  • Collaborate with internal process owners to enhance operational risk management.
  • Provide expert advice on efficient internal control activities and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct compliance reviews and monitor legal risks within Cordaid's internal processes.
  • Review and assess contracts and documents before approval.
  • Maintain and support GRC processes, automating and supervising internal controls and testing.
  • Guide Managers and staff in utilizing GRC tools effectively.
  • Monitor operational use of GRC tools and report on usage and quality.
  • Identify critical risk issues and oversee implementation of mitigation techniques.
  • Collaborate with IT to enhance system efficiency for GRC processes.
  • Assist with third-party screening and clearance.

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree in law or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of internal and external regulations.
  • Familiarity with risk management and assurance frameworks (ISO 31000, COSO ERM, COSO IC Framework, Kaplan).
  • Understanding of donor requirements and compliance.
  • Excellent communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in English; French language skills are a plus. Dutch is an added value.
  • Experience with GRC tools and processes preferred.
  • Ability to critically analyse information and propose improvements.
  • Strong presentation skills for raising awareness and providing training.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and decision-making.
